Matt Malone

Managing Director


Matt Malone is managing director with Hunt Private Equity Group in Charlotte, NC, where he heads the office. He is responsible for originating, executing, managing and harvesting portfolio company investments.

Prior to joining Hunt, Malone spent seven years as a principal at Winston Partners, a private equity firm in the Washington, DC, area, where he focused on investments in consumer product and niche manufacturing companies. Previously, he was a manager with Ernst & Young’s management consulting practice specializing in the introduction of a strategic and financial improvement initiatives for middle market companies.

Malone serves as chairman of Poseidon Enterprises, LLC, and serves on the boards of Ginsey Industries, Inc. and Universal Companies, Inc. Additionally, he serves on the board of the Carolina’s Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.

Malone graduated magna cum laude and with Phi Beta Kappa designation from Hampden-Sydney College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He earned a master's in finance from the University of Glasgow in Scotland as a Rotary International Scholar.
